What counts as a class?
A class is capacity, not history: your plan sets how many can run at the same time. Archive a finished class and its slot frees up for next term. Each class can hold up to three sections, and sections are free — students are what count.
What if I need one more class than my plan?
Add one. A committed class is reserved on your subscription for $69 a month (less on semester or annual terms); an on-demand class added mid-term is $79 a month. Either way it brings its own 60 students, 60 AI credits and 5 GB of storage — a class is a class, however you add it.
What happens beyond the included students?
Nothing stops. Each class covers 60 students, and enrollments beyond that meter at $1 per student per month, invoiced monthly. Allowances belong to a class and do not transfer — an unused seat in one class is never lent to another, so one very large class cannot quietly consume the room another one needs. Set spend alerts at whatever level you like.
What are AI credits?
Each class brings 60 credits a month for AI-assisted grading — the optional second opinion beside peer consensus. Credits belong to the class that uses them and do not transfer between classes, refresh monthly without rollover, and extra usage meters at 10¢ per credit.
How is file storage counted?
Every class comes with 5 GB, and storage belongs to a class in the same way students and credits do. Only the files you and your students upload count towards it — the copies Fairgrade makes to run an assignment, like converting a Word document to PDF or preparing the anonymised version used for blind peer review, are ours and never count against your allowance. Beyond 5 GB it is 10¢ per GB per month, and nothing stops working.
Do TAs and co-instructors cost extra?
No. On every paid plan, instructors, TAs, and admins are unlimited and free. The Free plan is a single instructor.
How do semester and annual terms work?
Commit to a 4-month semester and pay about 7% less; commit to a year and pay about 17% less. On-demand usage — extra students, extra AI credits, and on-demand classes — is invoiced monthly, whatever your term.
What happens to our data if we cancel?
It's retained for 12 months, with notice and a full export before anything is deleted. Enterprise retention follows your contract.
