What Fairgrade offers, by who you are.

One method, applied wherever many people judge and one answer must be trusted. Depending on your field there are three honest answers: a product you can use today, a pilot we will run with you, or a conversation about whether the method applies. The Research page holds the same fields, organised by the question.

Fairgrade for Education.

A Fairgrade assignment is a real assignment, graded by the whole class under the instructor’s rubric, weighted by the Marciano Method, and finalized by the instructor. Students learn the material twice, once producing the work and once judging it, and every submission gets more feedback than one grader could give.

  • Runs inside Canvas, Brightspace, Moodle and Blackboard through LTI 1.3, with grade passback
  • Priced by class, with sections and staff unlimited; free for a first course
  • Piloted with 5,000+ students across 60+ courses at NYU Stern

Pilots open · Staffing firms, employers and training providers

A research pilot inside one hiring drive or one training cohort.

Every candidate produces a work sample and evaluates several peers’ samples; recruiters grade a sample of the same work. The pool reveals who has mastery and judgment, the recruiters’ own calibration is measured alongside, and the whole thing is checked against what happens after the hire. The proposal is written, and the platform runs it today without modification.

Where we would rather talk first.

These are directions, stated as such. The mathematics is the same; what is missing is a record to check it against. If you keep one, a conversation is the right first step, and it costs nothing.

  • Journals, review committees and competition juries

    Expert panels and peer review

A conversation. The proposal is not yet written; the mathematics is, and a committee that wants to test it on its own record is the way it gets written.

  • Risk, research and investment teams

    Forecasting and risk

A conversation. Where a team keeps a record of who called what, the method can be checked against it before anyone commits to a pilot.

  • People teams and managers

    Performance review

A conversation. A 360-degree review is a crowd with known biases; a people team with one cycle of data is enough to start.

  • Platforms, publishers and civic institutions

    Public discourse

A conversation. This is the direction furthest from a product and closest to the mission, and it is approached through research partners rather than customers.

Not on the list?

If your organisation reaches high-stakes decisions through many evaluators, the method probably applies, whether or not the field is named here yet. Tell us who judges, what they judge, and what you later learn about whether they were right.
